ಚಿಕ್ಕಂದಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಶಾಲಾ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸದ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಬಾರಿ ಕೇಳಿದ ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳು – “ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶ ಭಾರತ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ನಾಲ್ಕು (1990ರ ಸಮಯ) ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ವಿವಿಧ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ, ಭಾಷೆ, ಆಚಾರ, ವಿಚಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಂತಹ ದೇಶ. ಈ ಮೂಲಕವಾಗಿ ವಿವಿಧತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏಕತೆಯನ್ನು ಬಿಂಬಿಸುವ ದೇಶ”.  ಇಂಥ ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಅದೆಷ್ಟೋ ಬಾರಿ ಶಾಲಾ ಭಾಷಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೋ, ಪ್ರಬಂಧ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೋ ಬಳಸಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು.  Continue reading →

ಬಿ ಬಿ ಎಂ ಪಿ ಚುನಾವಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಿಳಾ ಮೀಸಲಾತಿ !!

ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ ತಿಂಗಳ ಒಂದು ದಿನ. ಕಾಲೇಜ್ ನಿಂದ ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದು ಪೇಪರ್ ಓದುತ್ತಾ ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದೆ . ಮನೆಯ ಹಿಂಭಾಗದ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಟೋ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿ ಬಿ ಎಂ ಪಿ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯ ಪ್ರಚಾರ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಕೇಳಿಸಿತು . ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಟ್ಟೆ …  “ಜನಾನುರಾಗಿ , ಜನಪರ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ, ಬಡವರ ಬಂಧು, ದೀನ ದಲಿತರ ಆಶಾ ಕಿರಣ, ನಮ್ಮ ನಿಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ನೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತ ಕೆ. ಎಮ್. ಮಂಜು ..” ಇಷ್ಟು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ ನನ್ನ ತಲೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿತು – ಈ ಬಾರಿ ನಮ್ಮ ವಾರ್ಡ್ ಲೇಡೀಸ್ reservation ಅಂತ ಓದಿದ ನೆನಪಲ್ಲವೇ ಎಂದು. ಅಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ವಾಕ್ಯ ಮುಂದುವರೆಯಿತು – “.. ಕೆ ಎಂ ಮಂಜು ಅವರ ಧರ್ಮಪತ್ನಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ನಳಿನಿ ಎಂ ಮಂಜು ಅವರಿಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದ ಮತ ನೀಡಿ ಭಾರೀ ಅಂತರದಿಂದ ಗೆಲ್ಲಿಸಿ” !!  ದಂಗಾದೆ !!  ಇಷ್ಟು ಹೊತ್ತೂ ಹೇಳಿದ ವಿಶೇಷಣಗಳು ಅಭ್ಯರ್ಥಿಯ  ಗಂಡನಿಗೆ !!
